CALDWELL, N.J. – Caldwell College junior libero
Jaclyn Del Cid (Bogota, NJ/Bogota) and freshman outside hitter
Taylor Zaeske (South Milwaukee, WI/South Milwaukee) were included on the all-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference first team, as the conference announced its year-end awards for volleyball today. The duo helped the Cougars finish first in the CACC North Division for the fifth time in six years.
Del Cid is on the all-CACC first team after making the second team in 2012. Also a Daktronics all-East Region second team selection last season, Del Cid leads Caldwell and ranks fourth in the CACC in digs (454) and digs per set (4.50). The Cougars' starting libero, she has at least 10 digs in all but three matches this season, and had a season-high 30 digs in four sets at Molloy on Sept. 19. Del Cid eclipsed the 1,000-dig milestone earlier this season and currently ranks third on Caldwell's all-time list with 1,383 digs in her career.
Zaeske has been an impact player for the Cougars in her first collegiate campaign. She currently ranks third in the CACC in kills (365) and kills per set (3.65) and has led Caldwell in kills in 20 out of 29 matches. A three-time CACC Rookie of the Week, Zaeske put away a career-high 24 kills in four sets at Molloy on Sept. 19. Her 365 kills thus far this season are the third-most in a single season by a Cougar.
Nyack received three of the four special awards, with middle blocker Samantha Garza named the CACC Player of the Year, and Raquel Shaffer selected the Coach of the Year. The Warriors also received the Team Sportsmanship Award. Wilmington's Allison Briley was chosen the CACC Rookie of the Year.
The Cougars begin play in the CACC Tournament on Tuesday, Nov. 12 with a quarterfinal match against Holy Family University. The first serve is at 7:00 p.m. in the George R. Newman Center.
